Classic 4D/3N Inca trail map
This is the Inca Trail Map for the Classic 4-day Trek to Machu Picchu. The hiking begins at Km. 82 where the Inca Trail starts.
Day 1 will give us a chance to visit the Llactapata Ruins and Miskay Village. The hike ends at Wayllabamba Campsite. The total hiking distance for this day is about 7.5 miles.
Day 2 is the most challenging hiking day. We will hike a steeply uphill path towards Dead Woman’s Pass (Abra de Warmiwanusca). This pass is the highest elevation of the trek at 13,700 feet. The total hiking distance is about 5.5 miles.
Day 3 is a moderate hiking day. We will visit the Runkurakay Ruins. After, we’ll arrive at the Sayacmarca Ruins at the edge of the cliff. You’ll be amazed by the panoramic view from there.
The last ruins of the day are the Winay Wayna Ruins where we’ll set up camp for the night. As you can see in the Inca Trail map above, from this point the landscape starts becoming jungle. The total hiking distance is about 9 miles.
Day 4 is also a moderate to “light” hiking day. We wake up early to be able to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) entrance to Machu Picchu by sunrise. The total hiking distance is about 2 miles.
Express 2D/1N Inca Trail Map
As you can see in the Inca Trail map above, our hike begins at Km 104. From here we have an uphill path towards the Winay Wayna Ruins. Here we begin our Inca Trail experience.
From this point on its the same as the 4th-day hike of the Classic 4-day Inca Trail Trek. From Winay Wayna Ruins we head towards the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) entrance to Machu Picchu. The total hiking distance is about 7 miles.
