Choquequirao Trek Map
The trekking route for this site is fairly straightforward since we have to follow the main path. We begin from Cachora Town and head for Chiquiska Village where we will set up camp for the first night. The second day begins with a slight downhill hike to Rosalina Beach. From there, we pass the bridge over the Apurimac River to cross to the other side of the Canyon where a steep uphill hike awaits us. We continue the hike until we reach the Choquequirao Campsite. Have a full or half day at Choquequirao Site and then head back to Chiquiska Village and then back to Cachora Town.
Choquequirao Elevation Map
Although it doesn’t have high mountain passes, its path has two very challenging points: going down and back up the Apurimac Canyon to reach the site. As you can see from the elevation map image, the lowest point of the hike is in Rosalina Beach. This beach is next to the Apurimac River at the bottom of the Apurimac Canyon.
Since this trek begins and ends in Cachora Town, the hike up and down the Apurimac Canyon is done on the way to the site and on the way back to Cachora Village.
